| Overview

South Ribble Council acquired the former McKenzie Arms site in 2016 and proceeded to consider residential uses. As a forward thinking local authority, the desire to develop their own housing stock, whilst also creating homes which operate sustainably and cheaply for residents was at the forefront of the final scheme. Planning permission was granted in 2019 for a Passivhaus scheme and GCL were engaged at this point to develop a procurement strategy, carry out the cost management duties and act as Employers Agent. Having procured a Contractor through the Innovation Chain North Framework, progress on site has been good with completion set for February 2023.
